Futura Health Screening is a division of Pacific Vascular Inc.; acknowledged experts in vascular ultrasound. PVI is an employee-owned company with 17 vascular ultrasound laboratories located throughout Washington State, (15 in the Puget Sound region), providing comprehensive diagnostic vascular testing. PVI has been a member of the Northwest medical community for over 20 years.
Serving the Northwest Community
Based in Bothell, WA, Futura is local and dedicated to serving the Northwest. We are not a national chain. Our focus is on the members of our community, and we are always here to serve your health concerns and needs.
Screening Only Individuals At-Risk
A big difference with Futura versus other screening services is that Futura asks each potential participant a number of questions before proceeding, to make sure that vascular disease screening is appropriate. This important step assures that you are only screened if you are determined to be at some degree of risk.
Screening for vascular disease, without the need to do so (i.e. no risk factors), is an unnecessary cost and, in rare cases, can result in unnecessary further medical testing and treatments (see “Why Not Screen Everyone?”).
By taking the time to answer our on-line Risk Calculator or by talking with one of our friendly staff, you can be assured that a health screening is only recommended when it is truly necessary.
Note: If you are identified as at low risk for vascular disease, and would still like to participate in screening, you certainly will be allowed to schedule an exam. However, we do want to make sure that you have been informed that screenings under these conditions are likely to be unremarkable.
Quality Results
As part of Pacific Vascular, we have seen the results of screenings from other organizations done improperly and without sufficient accuracy. Combined with lack of identification of appropriate individuals at risk, many screenings are unnecessary and potentially inaccurate, leading to further diagnostic testing (see “What are false positives?”).
Futura Health Screening is the only ICAVL accredited non-invasive vascular screening program in Washington State. ICAVL (The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories) requires high standards to ensure quality vascular screening exams (see Futura First in Washington to be Awarded ICAVL Accreditation).
Futura has conducted internal correlation studies which show 95-99% accuracy in our screening results (see Quality Assurance). This means that if disease is present we are highly likely to find it, and it is highly unlikely we will incorrectly find disease when it is not there.
Low-Cost
Futura’s vascular screening services are affordable and do not require a doctor’s referral or a claim to your insurance company. Each screening is $45, and if your Risk Calculator recommends two or more screenings, discounts are available.
Top-Rated Team
All screening exams are performed by our highly skilled Registered Vascular Technologists. Each interpreting physician is local and credentialed as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.
Pacific Vascular is also the home of PVI Continuing Medical Education; training technologists and doctors throughout North America in vascular medicine and ultrasound.
You can be assured that your Futura screening procedures are conducted by top-qualified technologists, and that the results are reviewed by the best of vascular physicians.
Same-Day Results with Consultation & Report
When your screening exam is complete, a vascular ultrasound professional will review your results with you and give you a preliminary printed report. They will also provide you with recommendations and take-home preventative educational materials.
Follow-Up
Screening results will be reviewed by an expert vascular physician, and a final report will be sent to you and your physician. If significant arterial disease is identified, an opportunity exists for you to work with your physician to modify risk factors and seek further treatment as appropriate.
Note: If any critical results are discovered in any screening, your physician will be informed as soon as possible of our findings.
The Futura Mission
Futura’s mission is to offer a high quality vascular screening program whose focus is to promote good vascular health by early detection of vascular disease, education and risk factor modification. Futura Health Screening is dedicated to exam quality and therefore also dedicated to preventing unnecessary and potentially harmful further testing.
